30 MINUTES: MISSION LAUNCH - TIME TO GET TO KNOW THE TEAM

For grown-ups 

  • Watch the short introductory video to the day

  • Then you have the rest of the session to explain all the things on your Trello briefing list (above the register), welcome children, play some get to know you games and any other games or activties you know to make them feel happy and settled on the team

  • If you have extra time they can:

    • design a Nimble Arts logo for their group​

    • draw a picture of someone new they have met in the group

    • draw their favourite place and share it with everyone

    • go round the room and ask favourite...

    • Or try the SLIME DANCE

DRILL 1: 10:00- 10:30 IN HALL
5 MINUTE FROZEN WARM UP

For grown-ups:

  • Take children into the hall with their water bottles and ask them to find a space where they can see the screen. 

  • Tell children they are going to be doing some training to become super strong for their adventure

  • When everyone is ready navigate to this page on the computer linked to the screen  - there is a shortcut on the desktop

  • You can login to the Drill using username: catherine@nimblearts.co.uk and password nimble

SKILL 1 10:45- 11:15 IN BUBBLE ROOMS
1 MINUTE INTRO VIDEO

For grown-ups: SKILL 1: ROCKETS

  • Watch the introduction video first - it will show children what they are making and what materials they need which will be in your Skill 1 box in the room

  • You need to give out everything and children can arrange everything they need on their table

  • If you need to watch the video again before you start making you can

 

For this activity they will need:

- A rocket kit

- Pens

- Tape to stick on straws (adults will need to do this)

You can demonstrate step by step or let them just get on with making.

When the activity is finished please make sure children have put their name on their work and have put it in their take home/bag

For grown-ups:

-Start with The Moon For Kids

= The Moon Landing Workshop is actually aimed at KS2 but you can adapt the activities for younger children or just watch together and then talk about what you would take to the moon

- Children can draw their own alien if you have extra time

  • Watch the introduction video first - it will show children what they are making and what materials they need which will be in your Skill 2 box in the room

  • You need to give out everything and children can arrange everything they need on their table

  • If you need to watch the video again before you start making you can

For this activity children will be making a space helmet: They will need:

- a helmet box

- foil

- scissors 

- decorations

You could start by tshowing children how to cover the helmet in foil before they stick on decorations

When the activity is finished please make sure children have put their name on their work and have put it in their take home box/bag

2:45 - 3:15 OUTDOOR BREAK
3:15 - 3:30 IN BUBBLE GROUPS
TIME TO SHOW AND TELL WHAT YOU'VE DONE

For grown-ups:

  • Encourage children to show anything they have made and make sure everything is put safely in their bag

  • You can also remind them what they've done and asked them to say what they enjoyed and what they learned

  • Watch the video below right at the end of the session

1 MINUTE FINAL VIDEO
STORY TIME 3:30 - 3:45 IN BUBBLE GROUP

For grown-ups:

  • Once the room is tidy and children have everything they need to go home, they can settle into their chair (or under their table!) ready for story-time

  • Just press play on the video 

15 MINUTES - STORYTIME - JUST PRESS PLAY
3:45 - 4:00 COME INTO HALL WITH EVERYTHING FOR HOME TIME

For grown-ups:

  • We have changed the end of the day - children will now come into the hall for Cinema Time at 3:45 with all their stuff - they will sit in lines next to the name of their bubble on the floor and we will keep everyone really quiet while we come in and whisper names from parents for pick up
