30 MINUTES: MISSION LAUNCH - TIME TO GET TO KNOW THE TEAM
5 MINUTE INTRO

For grown-ups: 

- Watch the intro video

- Then use the notes on Trello to tell children about the day

- Play some get to know you games - the children might be able to suggest some really good ones

- Children can decorate their resources box

- If there's time they can design a logo for the group

- If you want to try something as a whole group try moving along to DON'T READ LIKE A ROBOT

Or try FABIOS MEATBALL RUN ON THE SPOT

DRILL 1
10:00 - 10:45 Turtles and Meerkats in Hall

For grown-ups:

  • Take children into the hall with their water bottles and ask them to find a space where they can see the screen. 

  • Make sure bubbles remain spaced out

  • Tell children they are going to be doing some training to become super strong for their adventure

  • When everyone is ready start the video  workout video

MOON LANDING WORKSHOP 20 MINS + FLEXIBLE

REAL MOON LANDING FOOTAGE

For grown-ups: We will working through an UNO workshop that involves working on a news report and a mimed performance of the Moon Landing. Children can work in pairs or if there is an odd number one 3 (with 2 people playing Neil Armstrong. 

1. When the workshop talks about real footage from the landing you can show the 'REAL FOOTAGE VIDEO' linked below

2. For the Fill in the Blanks Activity work as a whole team 

3. For the news report children can work as pairs or on their own. They can write down some notes for their news report and then present it if they want to. 

4. For the mimed moon landing watch the example from the workshop then children can practice theirs in pairs or threes.

5. Once you've finished the workshop activities children can make the Moon Phase Checker from the intro vide. They will need:

- scissors and glue

- two paper plates 

- white paper

-black pen

- a split pin

For grown-ups:

The team will be designing their own Space Agency logo and then their helmet. 

You will need:

- white paper and pens for design

- cardboard helmet blank

- foil

- decorations 

 

If you finish you can design things for your space agency on paper:

- space suit

- space rocket

- space station

- space menu

  • When the activity is finished please make sure children have put their name on their work and have put it in their take home box/bag

2:45 - 3:30 TIME SQUAD CHALLENGE ALL GROUPS IN BUBBLE ROOMS
3 MINUTE INTRO

Remember if you didn't finish your Moon Phase Reader you can use some of this session!

For grown-ups: 

  • Watch the video first - you can always go back to it during the session

The team will be designing a craft to get Troy back home

You will need:

- paper cups

- 2 masrhmallows

- straws

- rubber bands

- paper and card

- pipe cleaners

- other deocrating items

Once you've designed them you can try dropping the crafts to see if the marshmallows stay inside

  • When the activity is finished please make sure children have put their name on their work and have put it in their take home box/bag

3:30 - 3:40 MISSION REPORT

For grown-ups: 

  • Children prepare a report from everything they want to show and tell - you can film this on the iPad or take pictures 

  • They need to explain everything they've made and talk about their books and whats in them

  • Some children may want to write up a report
